Depending on the scenario, the Petitioner might need to file one or more additional forms. The defendant has to be served 8 or more days prior to the return date. He is then considered served. Maryland courts can still have jurisdiction above a service member who's stationed beyond Maryland, or even outside the nation, if her or his domicile is established in Maryland.
